ProofPoint has announced a Messaging Security Gateway virtual appliance for the VMWare platform. In this case they’re converting what was originally a hardware appliance into a software virtual appliance. This should broaden the reach of their product considerably, however at $10,000, the price is maybe a little steep to make it down to the small business level.
