I read that report too, but Jonathan Schwartz from Sun doesn't seem to agree with Gartner. In his latest blog post, he said he expects virtualization to increase server sales, because cheap computing spurs innovation, leading to more computing resources being used.

Do you see end users deploying larger numbers of software appliances if they become more inexpensive to host and easier to install?</description>
